Remote Monitoring of Drain Pans in Hard-to-Reach AHUs and Cooling Towers

Remote Monitoring of Drain Pans in Hard-to-Reach AHUs and Cooling Towers

Drain pan leakage is a major concern as it causes ceiling stains and mold, leading directly to tenant complaints. While regular inspections are essential, physical access to the interior of the equipment is often hindered by travel costs, confined spaces, and the need for tenant coordination. These hurdles make both routine maintenance and initial response during emergencies highly inefficient. To address these challenges, we offer a remote monitoring solution that combines our LC-20—a business-card-sized compact color camera—with LiLz Guard, a cloud-based AI that quantifies and automatically detects equipment anomalies. This system allows you to remotely monitor drain pans to identify contamination levels and early signs of clogging. By shifting to predictive maintenance, you can optimize your troubleshooting preparations and significantly improve overall operational efficiency.

Improving LPG Terminal Maintenance with On-Site Data Visibility

At LPG storage terminals, there are numerous inspection items that must be monitored, including storage tank internal pressure, liquid level, temperature, vapor pressure, signs of surging, and the motor current and discharge pressure of LPG pumps (liquid transfer pumps). Many of these facilities are classified as hazardous areas, where inspections have traditionally relied on visual checks conducted from a safe distance and manual, handwritten records. In addition, securing skilled personnel has become increasingly difficult, and the burden of patrols during nighttime hours or severe weather has continued to grow. To address these challenges, we deployed the LC-EX10, a device designed for use in hazardous areas and well suited for remote visual inspection, across the facility. Cameras are installed at fixed points to capture images of gauges around the tanks and indicators and ammeters on pump control panels. These readings are then automatically interpreted by AI and converted into time-series data, replacing conventional inspection workflows. Because the system is completely wireless and requires no construction work, it can deployed without any shutdowns, significantly reducing both operational and financial barriers to adoption. Thanks to the LC-EX10 cameras, inspection frequency is maintained while overall labor requirements are reduced. Any fluctuations of monitored gauges that exceed predefined thresholds are immediately detected and reported via email or chat, with supporting historical data available on the same screen. This demonstrates how DX initiatives can be implemented quickly, even in environments where digital tools have traditionally been difficult to adopt.

Daily travel to tanks located in secondary sites is time-consuming. In addition, inspections often require entry into hazardous areas, increasing safety risks. By combining LC-EX10 with LiLz Gauge, you can automate remote level monitoring. Remaining volumes can be tracked remotely, with automatic alerts triggered when levels fall below preset thresholds—reducing patrol inspection workloads. This also minimizes frequency of entries into hazardous areas, helping prevent accidents.
